DRL Simulator Drone Racing Flight Simulator
So you think you have what it takes to be a drone racing pilot. Well now The Drone Racing League or DRL has released the DRL Simulator Drone Racing Flight Simulator. In this article we will have a look at the new DRL Simulator. The video shows how to download the program install, and setup the program. Then a quick look at the different features available in the simulator. The DRL simulator is a free application for anyone interested in seeing if they have what it takes to become a drone racing pilot.
Included in the program are three modes of flight
Training Mode, Single Player Mode, and Multiplayer Mode. You can also earn or purchase “Props” a virtual currency used in the simulator.
In the DRL Tryouts area there is even a way you can become a paid contracted pilot in DRL
To enter your score to the DRL tryouts mode, select Tryouts from the main menu. In Tryouts mode, pilots will complete a pre-defined series of courses and the aggregate time to complete all races represents their score. Scores are then submitted to a leaderboard. The top 24 submissions will be invited to an in-person tournament for the opportunity to receive a contract as a pilot in DRL. Pretty cool!
The DRL Simulator supports many different USB controllers and RC transmitters
Including but not limited to: FrSky Taranis, JR, Futaba, Playstation, Xbox, and generic USB controllers. The DRL website states that “while DRL does not specifically recommend the FrSky Taranis transmitter, it is the most widely used currently in the sport of FPV. For that reason, it has been extensively tested and is guaranteed to work with the DRL Simulator. In addition to the Taranis transmitter, many USB gamepads have been tested as well, including PS4, Xbox one, and generic USB gamepads.”
